About Us
We know clients often find it hard to differentiate one financial firm from the next. It can feel like we all walk, talk, and dress the same. Next time you're at a family function or cocktail party, we want you to be able to clearly articulate why you work with Third Act Wealth Management.

Our Story
Third Act was built for self-made families. You spent decades building what you have. Our job is to make sure it's planned as carefully as it was built. Nick learned why that matters long before he was a Wealth Manager.
Where It Started
Nick Lalonde grew up one of six kids in Kentucky, in a house that felt a lot like the Brady Bunch. His best childhood memories are the dinner table: everyone talking at once, and parents who somehow always provided. Then his stepfather got sick and was out of work for nearly a year. The family business hit hard times at the same moment, and his mother took on more hours to keep everyone afloat. It wasn't enough. A family of eight couldn't survive on one income, and his parents made the difficult decision to divorce.
Nobody in that house had done anything wrong. They just never had anyone in their corner who was trained to see the whole picture and catch what they couldn't. Watching his family go without that person is what lit the fire that pulled Nick into financial planning. He wanted to be that person for other families.
The Leap
Nick moved from Kentucky to Texas with several offers in hand. He took the one that paid the least, because it came with the best teacher: a veteran advisor who also taught the CFP® curriculum at the University of Dallas. Two years of learning the craft under someone who taught it shaped how Nick plans to this day.
The Youngest in the Room
At 24, Nick became one of the youngest CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals in the country, and a national firm recruited him to open his own office. He built it by doing the opposite of what most advisors are trained to do: he gave before he received, sharing his best ideas with people long before they became clients. Other advisors noticed, and Nick was asked to serve on a national advisory committee, took on leadership roles across the firm, and went on to coach hundreds of advisors around the country on how he ran his practice.
The faster the office grew, the clearer the problem became. Most of the industry is built for scale: the same model portfolio, the same checklist, the same off-the-rack plan for nearly everyone. The families sitting across from Nick didn't fit the same cut, and being the advisor they needed would take different technology, different investment solutions, and processes built specifically for families preparing for retirement and living in it. That was going to take a firm of his own.
Third Act
With a baby on the way and zero clients lined up, Nick left a top role at a major firm to build the one he wished existed: a firm where one advisor sits in the middle of your whole financial picture, and where each advisor serves no more than 100 families so there's room to go a mile deep. Third Act Wealth Management opened in March 2023.
Today
Today, Third Act is a team serving families across Dallas–Fort Worth and around the country, and the story we care most about isn't ours. It belongs to the retiree who finally knows the plan stretches to 95, to the executive whose equity has a strategy instead of just a vesting schedule, to the business owner who sells on her own terms, and to the surviving spouse who knew exactly who to call. Our clients spent their lives building what they have, and we plan it with the same care they built it with.

After nearly a decade at some of the largest firms in the country, I built Third Act on a simple idea: a wealth management firm should skate to where the puck is going, not to where it sits today. As technology and AI reshape this industry, that means adapting how we plan and invest, instead of putting every client through the same one-size-fits-all approach.
Your money is one connected picture.
Let's find out whether it's being planned that way. A Second Opinion is roughly 10 to 20 hours of real planning work on your actual numbers, free, and the clarity is yours to keep whether you become a client or not.
