Our Approach

How a Third Act Relationship Starts, Meeting by Meeting

Every Third Act relationship starts with a Second Opinion: roughly 10 to 20 hours of real planning work on your actual numbers, at no cost and no obligation. Here is what happens in each meeting, so you know what to expect before you book the first one.

Discovery Meeting

Part of your free Second Opinion

The first meeting is a conversation about your life, not a review of your statements. We want to understand your family, your goals, what the money is for, and which professionals are already around you. You'll do most of the talking, and we'll take careful notes, because everything that follows gets built from this conversation.

Strategy Meeting

Part of your free Second Opinion

Between the first and second meeting, we review the accounts, documents, and tax return you've shared with us. Then we sit down and walk you through what we found: where the gaps are, which planning opportunities are open right now, and what we would do about each one. You keep those findings whether or not you decide to work with us.

Mutual Commitment Meeting

The decision point

This meeting is a decision, and it runs in both directions: you're deciding whether we're the right fit, and so are we. You'll have our advisor fee and every other cost in writing before this conversation, so you're deciding with the full picture in front of you. If we both agree, we sign the agreement and get to work. If not, we'll tell you honestly and point you in the right direction. Everything up to this point has been free.

Investment and Technology Meeting

Your first meetings as a client

Once you're a client, two meetings put the plan in motion. In the investment meeting, we present your investment plan and agree on it before a single trade is placed. In the technology meeting, we walk you through logging in and finding your accounts, documents, and reports. If your plan involves your CPA, attorney, or insurance agent, we bring them in early so their piece is coordinated from the start.

Regular Progress Meetings

The ongoing rhythm

From there, we meet on a set schedule to review progress and adjust the plan as your life and the tax law change. Between those meetings, we reach out whenever something in your plan needs attention, before you would have thought to ask.

Let's start with the first conversation.

The first three meetings cost you nothing, and you decide at every step whether to keep going.
